A software engineer by profession and a mountaineer by calling, Aritra grew up in Agartala, Tripura, where adventure sport barely existed as an idea. He taught himself endurance through running, cycling, and swimming, then set his sights on something bigger: an Everest triathlon. In May 2025 he became the first person from Tripura to summit Everest, self-funded through savings and a loan, days before running the Tenzing-Hillary Everest Marathon at 17,500 ft. He's since summited Kilimanjaro, Elbrus, and a solo Aconcagua in -40C, four of the Seven Summits down, three to go. Off the mountain, he runs fitness and resilience workshops for students back home in Tripura, building the community he never had growing up.
